Doorly – John’s Poem / Hear U Calling on Pigeon Hole This

Doorly returns to the production fold after something of an absence whilst he’s been off touring the world, DJing for Usher, doing his own warehouse parties and playing boats, beaches and everything in between. This production return comes on his own label and is served up in two portions – ‘John’s Poem’ and ‘Hear U Calling’.

The first, ‘John’s Poem’, is a lucid, brightly coloured dancefloor track that will tingle every sense you have. It pairs downbeat piano chords with classic handclaps, squirmy synth lines and robotised vocals into something supercharged with tension. Eventually the whole thing breaks into a groove and bobbles along at a tight, slinky lick that will simply demand you dance. The flip, ‘Hear U Calling’ is a predatory dubstep track with slapping bass crashes, wobbly LFOs and a high pitched, icy female vocal. It’s stadium sized, trance licked electronica of the sort Magnetic Man have perfected in recent years.
