Lee M Kelsall feat Thabo: Something on Mexa

When not playing places like Space and Creamfields, Lee M Kelsall is also busy crafting potent deep house and disco bombs in his studio. Here he gets snapped up for a single on young but already impressive – thanks to a recent Lee Foss EP – Mexican label Mexa, and does nothing to damage the imprint’s credibility early on.

The original, Something, hangs around a cool, breathy vocal from Thabo. Around it dart well defined drums and claps, hits and toms with a jazzy colour also coming in thanks to the gentle chord changes. It’s unashamedly emotive pop house for the Hot Creations generation and is backed with slightly sweatier remixes from first Cubiq, then Volta Bureau… surely the first of many big hits for Kelsall.
