Music Review

Here comes the 50th release from Coyu’s ever reliable Suara imprint. It features a re-release of a free track the boss gave away last year plus a bunch of remixes from close friends. So far the label has been functional but fun, never straying too far from the dancefloor but doing so with some great invention from a top selection of contemporary talents from Huxley to Catz & Dogz. The first of the remixes from French house man Oxia. His version is all steamy and tropical with plenty of clattering percussion driving things forwards.

Next is Italian Santos, here he brings the drums to the fore and injects planet of atmosphere as if the track was recorded in the middle of a dancefloor. All sorts of jungle noises add plenty of character. Finally, Danny Serrano opts for a deeply looping track that rides up and down like a merry-go-round, pulling you into its core with each rotation. A varied package that offers plenty for everyone, Suara 50 is as good as the other 49 releases from the label.
